Private Residence
Medford,
OR
This graceful home with Asian roots
crowns 8 acres atop Medford Valley's East Ridge. Built for a retired physician
and his wife, the house provides a backdrop for an Asian art collection.
The angled great room and master bedroom capture expansive views to the
valley below from their projected position out over the hill top.
The home was designed
for casual yet gracious living, with indoor and outdoor spaces connected
by 6'-0" wide doors.
The exterior shows
off the homes Asian inspiration. It is finished with concrete stucco (not
EIFS) and redwood trim, and accented by a flared roof.
The interior features
hemlock ceilings, light carpets and fabrics, and cabinetry of maple accented
with cherry. Such a combination of light colors and organic materials
adds warmth to the home while fostering a calm contemplative atmosphere.
This home is featured
in the Oregon Homes March-April 2000 issue.
